ORATS Helps Clients Strengthen Options Trading Strategies

Upgrades its User-Friendly Backtest Service

[For Immediate Release]

Portsmouth, N.H., April, 29, 2019—Option Research & Technology Services (“ORATS”), a leader in US equity options data and analysis, has released a major upgrade to its options backtest service.

Users create backtests that apply trading rules to historical data and gauge performance of rules-based-strategies. ORATS backtesting tool helps subscribers understand and reduce the complexity of options trading. By giving traders and investors the opportunity to test an options strategy without risking capital, a backtester is a tool for making better trading decisions. The backtest service is currently used by large and small companies across the financial industry, including pension funds, banks, hedge funds, and individual traders.

The ORATS backtester offers many trading rules that can be applied to calls, puts and spreads on historical data back to 2007. One of the upgrades allows users to test multiple strategies simultaneously and generates statistics based on combined tactics. Also, a stock-only option is now offered so users can mimic their portfolios by including multiple symbols and weightings. For example, users can enter their portfolio, combine the portfolio with a long put in SPY, and compare the performance of the stock-only portfolio with the augmented portfolio plus put.

“Our decades of experience in the options markets and trading industry have helped us create an industry-leading backtester,” says Matt Amberson, principal of ORATS, and a former Chicago Board Options Exchange (“CBOE”) market maker. "Our mission is to simulate real-world trading scenarios to help options investors develop strategies. The industry is changing rapidly, and we will continue to improve the backtester’s functionality to adhere to evolving demands."

The ORATS backtester is available now at www.orats.com and offers a free 14-day trial to its online subscription-based service.
